It was a well done movie. I would say that it was the least amount of the typical Michael Moore theatrics also. Only the megaphone to Guantanamo...and that was about it.

The only questionable portion was if the nation of Cuba was performing a P.R. stunt in giving those people health care, but regardless of if it was or not...the United States' system is not that generous...as the movie showed prior to those scenes.

My favorite parts of the film where the dispelling of the typical assumptions about nationalized systems (like the U.K. and France) and single-payor systems (like Canada). I've long been a fan of France's employee rights laws too...like their shorter work weeks, generous vacation time, along with their encouragement of wellness.

I feel like I'm pretty informed for the most part about other country's systems, but there were a number of things that made me stop the movie and say aloud, "You have got to be kidding me!" It blows my mind that the United States is so corporate-minded and so often anti-citizen.

When I read about this earlier today I couldn't believe it. Especially given the political climate and the outrageousness of Wall Street over the last several years, this seemed like an absolute slap in the face to the "common" people.

Nope... he won't use the word 'terror' or 'terrorist' at all... except for the dozens and dozens of examples we just saw. :-? It's pretty sickening how people and media can just flat out lie about so many things and get away with it.

The motion to open debate on the Senate floor passed. This is a good step. Of course the Republicans tried to block all of it.

I don't think that you are out of touch at all. Even to Google I think that it is obvious that people need a computer with a operating system like Mac OS X, for example. Something that you can run apps all locally and disconnected from a network.

I think what Google is addressing are those actions that require a network connection to perform at all, e.g. e-mail, web-browsing, social networks, online radio, streaming video (YouTube, Hulu, etc.), instant messages, SMS, etc.

Lots of people get on a computer, and outside of having their photos and music on their computer....EVERYTHING else they do is online. And it is that last part that ChromeOS is really focusing on.

All that being said...MacOS X 10.6 will boot in 10 seconds from solid-state disks, which is pretty close to ChromeOS's 4 seconds. :-)

Does it make me out of touch for not wanting everything I work on to be on the web? Besides security issues, I don't like the idea of being dependent on an internet connection to get anything done. I like having native versions of applications.

I suppose as the internet becomes more readily available worldwide and the speed sees universal increases some of my concerns could be alleviated, but those two issues still don't address them all.
